Ingredients:
1/2 cup Thoor dal
Drumstick (or any vegetable of your choice)
1 onion, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
Small lemon-sized tamarind ball (soaked in water)
2 teaspoons Sambar powder
Salt to taste
Tempering:
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
½ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
¼ teaspoon Jeera
2 Dry Red Chili
A pinch of asafetida
3 tablespoon oil
Few curry leaves
Instructions:
Cook Thoor dal until soft and mash it.
Boil the chopped vegetables, add tamarind pulp, Sambar powder, and salt. Let it simmer.
In a separate pan, heat oil, add Fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, Jeera on low flame, let them splutter, add asafetida, dry red chili and curry leaves. Add chopped onions and tomatoes to the tempering and mix well for 2 min. Add this tempering to the Sambar.
